Vickers and Barrass are thrilled to announce the impressive achievement of Joe Richardson, one of the firm’s talented Rural Surveyor apprentices, who has been awarded third place in the highly coveted Brown & Co LLP Prize for the best Estate Management Law Timed Open Book Assessment (TOBA). The award, presented at Harper Adams University, recognises excellence in the university’s Land and Property Management students, and Joe’s achievement stands out, especially as he is the highest placed apprentice in the competition.
Joe, who divides his time between hands-on learning at Vickers and Barrass and attending classes at Harper Adams University was one of the top five students to be put forward for the prize after completing his TOBA for the Estate Management Law module. His third-place finish is particularly noteworthy as he is the only apprentice in the top rankings, with the first and second place winners being full-time students.
“I was delighted to find out that I had been awarded third prize by Brown & Co,” said Joe. “After completing my Timed Open Book Assessments for the last academic year, my work was selected as one of the top five to be put forward for the award. It’s fantastic to see my efforts recognised, and to know that my TOBA received such high praise, especially as an apprentice. It’s a real honour to be the highest-placed apprentice in the competition.”
The awards were presented by Nicholas Staton MRICS FAAV, who congratulated Joe and the other winners for their exceptional work in the Estate Management Law module, a key part of their Land and Property Management studies.
Adam Barrass, Managing Director at Vickers and Barrass, expressed his pride in Joe’s achievement: “We are incredibly proud of Joe and his hard work. As part of our apprenticeship programme, Joe has demonstrated both academic excellence and a commitment to learning on the job. This award is a reflection of his dedication, and we look forward to supporting him and our other apprentice Rachel Atkinson throughout their
Joe’s success is also a proud moment for Vickers and Barrass as a firm that values the development of talent through apprenticeships and practical learning which is the first time the business has taken apprentices on in its history. As Joe and Rachel continue their journey, spending one week a month at Harper Adams and the rest of his time at Vickers and Barrass, they are gaining the skills and experience needed to make a significant contribution to the rural surveying industry.
