Under permitted development rights new agricultural buildings were limited to a size of 465m2. New regulation will allow a building of up to 1000m2 to be erected under permitted development rights.

The change of policy also extends to conversions of agricultural buildings into residential dwellings. The new regulation will allow up to 3 homes of up to 465m2 each, or up to 5 homes of up to 100m2 each, or a mix of larger and smaller homes, up to a maximum of 5 units with a maximum of 3 larger homes (max 465m2 each).

These changes will be effective from 6th April 2018.
